The eMarketing Association announced today that Clara Shih, Author of the bestselling social marketing book "The Facebook Era" and CEO/Founder of the Hearsay Social Corporation, will keynote day one of the Power of eMarketing, Providence, Rhode Island, October 12th and 13th.

Named one of Fast Company’s Most Influential People in Technology, Clara is CEO and founder of Sequoia-backed Hearsay Corporation, which has built the first social media platform for “corporate/local” organizations. Its flagship product Hearsay Social provides compliance, analytics, content management, and marketing automation for State Farm, 24 Hour Fitness, Farmers Insurance Financial Group, and other businesses with local including banks, insurance companies, retail or restaurant franchises, chains, and direct selling organizations.


Clara’s best-selling book, The Facebook Era: Tapping Online Social Networks to Market, Sell, and Innovate, has been featured in The New York Times and is used as a sales and marketing textbook at Harvard Business School. The Facebook Era is about how companies can market, innovate, and grow their business on social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. 

In 2007, Clara created the first business application on Facebook with her Faceconnector application, which integrates Facebook and CRM. Previously, Clara was a marketing and alliances executive at salesforce.com, where she led the company’s social networking initiatives. Clara has also worked in corporate strategy and software development at Google and Microsoft. Clara has a BS in computer science and economics and MS in computer science from Stanford University, as well as MS in internet studies from Oxford, where she studied as a United States Marshall Scholar. She is a frequently invited keynote speaker on social media at global conferences including AlwaysOn, Web 2.0 Expo, Enterprise 2.0, CRM Evolution, Direct Marketing Association, American Marketing Association, Toronto TechWeek, and Social Ad Summit.
