Aircraft, working and turbulance.

Ok so the interior of the plane looks something like a disco. Great seats and a purple colored lights.  It's still a plane. it bounces up and down.  That can be rough on my Mac Book Air. As we went through an especially choppy bout of turbulence I decided to take a break.  Closed my computer and turned to the passenger next to me.  A professional looking woman, probably in her 30's reading Steve Jobs biography.

I commented that I had just finished that book, and after a small bout of small talk, found out she was a marketing director for a Fortune 500 firm.  Wow, imagine that, we were in the same field.  She was complaining that her company was creating a social marketing department and she wanted to transfer to it but had no formal credential to indicate her experience in that arena.  Since my company the eMarketing Association is a world leader in eMarketing education and certifications, I suggested she take our advanced social marketing course.

"By taking the course, that will give you a credential via a certificate of completion, that can help your case for transferring to the new social marketing department" I said.  She said "great I will look in to that, sounds like something I could use."

As the plane was landing, I thought that although a course was a start for social marketing, a certification would be the best possible credential to establish competence in the arena.  As soon as I got back to my office I let my crew know that we would have to introduce a new certification in Social Marketing.

On January 1, 2012 - The "Certified Social Marketing Associate"  (CSMA) will be introduced to the marketing public.

If you are interested in this certification you can receive a pre-release discount and registration early in December by sending an email to: taylor@emarketingassociation.com with just "222" in the subject line.  There is no obligation. You will receive an email before December 15th with your special discount code and much more information on the certification.

And if your plane is wi-fi enabled you can take the exam in flight.
